Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s department of Financial Aid is seeking to hire a Financial Aid Officer – NCAA Compliance. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Assists in the oversight of daily operations of NCAA Bylaw 15 regarding financial aid.
- Monitors, documents, educate, reports on and enhances policies and procedures regarding athletic aid.
- Enhances compliance systems while keeping abreast of all pertinent federal, state and NCAA rules and regulations and makes recommendations as necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory changes.
- Notifies Athletics compliance staff and necessary Financial Aid staff of any potentially problematic issues immediately when identified.
- Assists in oversight of determining a student athlete’s eligibility for federal and athletic aid within federal and NCAA guidelines.
- Educates staff accordingly regarding athletic aid when necessary.
- Assists in preparation, maintenance and filing of all required NCAA, Sun Belt Conference and institutional financial aid records and reports including, but not limited to, providing financial aid information for the NCAA sports sponsorship reports, compiling and submitting the annual reports for the NCAA Special Assistance Fund and Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund, and maintaining appropriate information to allow the Athletics Compliance Office to generate NCAA squad lists.
- Awards and disburses all athletic aid in Banner, including any revisions or adjustments to awards.
- Sets up athletic fund codes in Banner to be used for the processing of athletic awards.
- Communicates with Athletics Compliance Office and other staff to ensure scholarship limits are in accordance with NCAA and institutional regulations, including monitoring institutional cost of attendance throughout the year.
- Issues National Letter of intent out of the Office of Financial Aid.
- Processes grant in aid review, sends yearly renewal and cancellation letters as needed.
- Serves as contact for student athletes and families regarding federal, state and athletic aid.
- Assists incoming and current students with federal , state and scholarship aid questions.
- Works with athletics staff to ensure effective communication and compliance with respect to the financial aid process.
- Assists the Office of Scholarship Services with unmet need errors to allow for timely processing of awards.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
- Related duties as required.
