PREFERENCES
- Ability to install, maintain, and test upgraded database software and to recover/restore data
- Ability to write, review and maintain technical documents such as database process documents, procedures and other ERCOT and NERC compliance documentation relative to operational data requirements
- Ability to design logical and physical SCADA databases or reviews description of changes to the database design
- Ability to establish physical database parameters related to new or existing RTU installations within TNMP transmission and distribution monitored facilities

- Demonstrated high level organizational ability to effectively coordinate and manage data requirements that are exchanged internally and between other utilities and regulatory entities
- Ability to implement and tests changes to ICCP database in accordance with ERCOT protocols, guides and procedures. Monitors and resolves ICCP data irregularities between ERCOT and System Operations
JOB DESCRIPTION
Personnel in this job title may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. If the position is covered, prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.

SUMMARY:
Under general supervision plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates the engineering work for a total project of moderate scope or for detailed phases of part of a major project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages engineering aspects of projects of moderate scope or detailed phases of major project efforts
- Leads or conducts performance, cost, and scheduling studies of varying size that are generally conventional in nature
- Supports operational areas through the application of standard and non-standard engineering techniques, practices, and procedures
- Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations, and evaluations to diverse internal groups in a working or conference type environment
- Represents the company's interests in engineering matters that may be varied and complex in nature
- Interacts with and provides broad knowledge technical support to other associates
- Applies engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards
- Provides technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and company personnel on a regular, on-going basis
COMPETENCIES:
- Broad knowledge and proven ability to apply engineering principles, practices and regulations to, and perform economic and decision analysis studies of issues in areas including, but not limited to, generation, transmission, distribution, system planning, financial and regulatory issues, asset utilization, and environmental controls and regulations
- Ability to read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, ASME, NACE, etc.)
- Ability to translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for improving system reliability
- Ability to make informed repair decisions following company protocols
- Comfortable working in and around high voltage (up to 345kV) electrical facilities and equipment

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a college/university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET), plus four or more years of engineering experience or three or more with a Fundamentals of Engineering certificate or three or more with a Master's Degree in Engineering.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
- Fundamentals of Engineering certificate is preferred.
- Must possess current, legally valid driver's license and meet the Company's driving record requirements.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, write speeches, and presentations
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and managers of the organization
COMPUTER SKILLS:

- Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations to diverse internal and external audiences

- Identifies and resolves broad technical and/or organizational issues affecting the company goals and objectives
- Provides advanced technical support as a staff advisor or consultant to, and interacts with other associates
- Applies extensive engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards
- Provides advanced and often highly innovative technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and company personnel on an as-needed basis
- Functions as a lead for staff engineers, professionals, and technicians and as appropriate, provides training
