Overview
Support the mission of the Department of Campus Safety to foster and maintain a safe and secure environment for its students, faculty, staff and visitors, by maintaining a level of protection to NYU’s President, Provost, VIP’s, Dignitaries, and controversial speakers visiting NYU properties. Supervise Campus Safety Officers (CSO) and Contract Security personnel during executive protection details as needed.
Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
2+ years campus safety experience
Preferred Experience:
1+ years Private Security, Military, or Law Enforcement.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles. Knowledge of security best practices and procedures. Analytical skills and objective observance of situations and quick decision making. Skill in motivating subordinates. Skill in managing situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and impartially. Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills. Valid, unrestricted driver's license.Working Conditions: May be exposed to the attendant discomfort or elements of serving outdoors for prolonged periods of time in inclement weather conditions, including walking or standing for extended periods while on duty, climbing and descending stairs.. Must possess skills to de-escalate tense situations and remain calm under pressure. Ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays to meet the needs of the department as well as overtime. Applicants must be in good health and must have and retain physical strength, including the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs., physical stamina, and agility, visual and auditory acuity to perform the essential responsibilities of his position. Applicants must be able to operate departmental equipment, including radios, use hands repetitively, and have the ability to listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate salary range for this position is USD $27.863 to USD $37.863. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.

Human Resources will conduct a phone interview and possible skills assessments for a pool of qualified applicants.
