How you will make an impact:
As a Process Engineer in a currency manufacturing business, you play a pivotal role in optimizing production processes to ensure efficiency and quality. You analyze and improve workflows, reducing waste and increasing productivity. Your expertise in process design and implementation directly impacts the consistency and security of the currency produced. You collaborate with various departments to troubleshoot issues and implement innovative solutions and mentor a strong, capable team of process engineers and co-op students. Your contributions help maintain high standards and drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing process.
Support product validation trials: Assist in conducting product validation trials and other tests at various customer operations to ensure product quality and performance.
Coordinate scale-up and validation trials: Work closely with the supply chain and R&D product development group to coordinate scale-up and validation trials in the mill for alternatively sourced materials or new product modifications.
Utilize Six Sigma tools: Apply Six Sigma methodologies and tools to analyze and improve manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing variability.
Serve as mentor and teacher for a team of process engineers and co-op students providing direction along with coaching and development opportunities for learning and growth.
Improve manufacturing systems: Support the execution of reliable and safe manufacturing systems while helping to improve production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
Optimize and troubleshoot processes: Focus on the optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to ensure consistent quality and performance.
Conduct risk assessments: Perform risk assessments to identify potential issues and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
Document and report findings: Prepare detailed reports documenting process improvements, trial results, and any changes implemented, ensuring clear communication and record-keeping.
Participate in the development of objectives, priorities, timelines, guidelines, and budgets for the department.
Knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (e.g., papermaking technology, pulp and science engineering, chemical engineering) or commensurate experience.
A minimum of 5 years of industrial and technical experience in process engineering for a continuous manufacturing process.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications; training in statistical process control.
Proven leadership abilities with direct teams as well as cross-functional teams. Ability to influence others and drive progress.
Experience working on projects and processes to develop systems.
Knowledge of quality testing procedures relevant to intermediate process testing and final product quality.

Preferred:
2+ years of industrial experience in process engineering in the field of papermaking.
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
