Technical Designer - Military veterans preferred

Crane Currency has an immediate position opening for a Technical Designer. Based out of Malta.

How you will make an impact:

Technical Designers create CTIP/CTOP files, or similar industry print origination files, from Master Banknote Designs, enabling on-time, on quality production of Proofing and Production Printing Plates.

• Understand and execute competently the specialized equipment, principally Computer to Intaglio Plate (CTIP) and Computer to Offset Plate (CTOP) software and/or similar security print Origination Equipment.

• Execute in a timely manner, in accordance with demands of Design, Contract Management and Production the processes for delivering press-ready files for Proofing and Production

• Understand well the Company’s bid and production processes and how the creation and delivery of origination materials impacts quality and on-time delivery of product to customers

• Execute digital files in a way that fulfills production, security and quality requirements

• Support the creative designers when required and develop skills accordingly

• It is the employee’s responsibility to comply with the Company’s safety policies, ensuring that all personal protective equipment is in place and that good judgment and care are exercised to prevent accidents and personal injury.

Knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

Required:

• At least five years demonstrated knowledge of computer aided design or drafting (CAD)

• At least five years of experience in working with a production, origination or quality team

• College education in computer science, engineering, design or production system or engineering

• English fluency in writing, speaking

• Graphic software such as AutoCAD (or similar), Illustrator, Photoshop, The One and/or JURA software

• Working knowledge of banknote design, origination and production processes

• Some project management experience

• Micro-soft Office, Project, Excel, Outlook

• Ability to prioritize multi-step production processes in accordance with strict deadlines

• Ability to work cooperatively to create effective delivery schedules

• Strict, adherence to file management, revision and storage practices

• Ability to work in concert with Design and Contract Management in meeting the origination needs of each.

• Exhibit a positive attitude and initiative

• Must have motivation and communication skills work within the Origination Team effectively, being responsive to changes in priorities and schedules without compromising quality

• Have a respectable work history with minimal attendance and lateness issues.

• Understand the principles and comply with practice of Lean Manufacturing, 5S Methodology and Continuous Improvement.

• To always act and behave in a way compliant with all Company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to Environment Health and Safety, ethics and codes of conduct.
