Under the direction of the Fitness Coordinator/Club Sports Director, the Head Club Coach, Gymnastics is responsible for the advisement and training of the club gymnastics team, with the administrative responsibility to develop and teach the various skills, tactics, and routines of the activity. Functions include administration of performance scheduling, routine selection, events, and choreography. The incumbent will accompany the team to scheduled off-campus events and performances.
Coaching/Teaching Duties
Teach and develop sport-specific skills in a successful, safe and prudent manner. Develop routines and choreography for presentation at athletic events and before the public.
Plan and supervise the tryout event, activity, and the selection criteria to identify new members for the programs. Accompany and supervise the team during on or off-campus trips, for the purpose of representing the University.
Coordinate distribution and collection of uniforms and costumes with the equipment office.
Work in conjunction with the Director and other staff to insure and secure practice times and sites and general promotion of the programs.
Train the gymnastics club in the stunt and skills necessary to enter and compete in entering regional competitions.
Create, present, and maintain records of up-to-date routines, practice drills and procedures detailing the desired goals to be achieved.
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience in areas related to athletics and coaching, with knowledge of gymnastics skills and formations for college level athletic teams.
Exposure to, and training, in the fundamentals of gymnastics skills.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with student-athletes and other members of the Athletics Department.
Ability to handle emergencies involving students.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in higher education.
