We are actively seeking a Buyer II to join the HME team. Under limited supervision, uses working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to procure production components at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.

What you will do in the position:

Plans, Places and Modifies Purchase Orders for Off-the-Shelf and Build-to-Print Commodities

    • Plans purchase orders based on various reports, using judgment and knowledge of materials and product to modify quantity and timing of order as appropriate to obtain best price.
    • Contacts suppliers to negotiate pricing, delivery, terms and conditions based on company requirements and specifications.
    • Processes purchase orders and change orders to suppliers verbally and/or in writing, following up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of orders.
    • Maintains adequate records of purchase orders and all related documentation.
    • Acts as liaison between suppliers and Supplier Quality Department to address and resolve quality issues, including return to vendor items.
    • Modifies, renegotiates and reschedules existing orders based on current needs.
    • Addresses and resolves invoicing discrepancies with suppliers.
    • Follows up on open order report.

Vendor Research, Identification, and Sourcing

    • Researches and identifies vendor sources, seeks competitive bids, and recommends alternate sources.
    • Consults buy history, computer database, and reference trade publications and Engineering to identify and recommend alternate sources, contacting sources to request competitive bids.

General Support

    • Receives MRP from Production Control to initiate and reschedule orders.
    • Receives input from Supplier Quality on quality issues that may need supplier interface.
    • Works with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing issues.
    • Interfaces with Engineering for design sampling and technical information.
    • Interfaces with Document Control for latest written specifications.
    • May act as Project Coordinator on design projects as appropriate.
    • Backs up other Buyer/Planners as needed.

What you will need to succeed in this position:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including using word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Basic understanding of blueprints.
  • 2-4 years of Purchasing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Up to 10% travel.

Pay Range: $59,700 - $79,600 per annum. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for the role. This may vary depending on experience and other factors. Our benefits package includes tuition reimbursement; 3 weeks paid vacation your first year, paid holidays, medical, vision and dental coverage, pet insurance, life insurance, and 401K contributions.
