Key Responsibilities:

GeneralProcurementresponsibilities (not project specific)

  • Perform market research and establishand maintainrelationships within the industry to help McCarthy stay informed and ahead of changes in the marketas it relates to Switchgear, Panel Boards, Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches, Transformers, Generators, Bulk Wire and Cable, Lighting, and other related electrical scopes.
  • Possess a working knowledge of manufacturers, distributors, and OEMs for electrical scopes and develop relationships within the supply chain as appropriate.
  • Develop Category Strategies for responsible scopes. Ensure thorough and accurate purchasing history data exists for categories. Understand and utilize any applicable should-cost modeling strategies.
  • Explorenew technologies,lead the evaluation, and benchmarkingof new products to determine the economic value and potential impacts if implemented.
  • Initiateand lead thesupplier and productqualification process.
  • Benchmark vendorstoidentifyopportunitiestoimprovecompetitivepricingof eachproject scope.
  • Attend industry events and represent McCarthy to the industry in a professional capacity.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with suppliers and collaborate with them on the development of new technologies.
  • Build and maintain key relationships withouroperations teamand collaborate with themto resolve qualityissues with our vendors.
  • Continually seek out opportunities for personal growth and improvement by setting SMART goals and working diligently to achieve them.
  • Conductprojectsite visits andvendorinspectionswhere appropriate.
  • Negotiate Terms and Conditions and/or Master Service Agreements (MSAs) with suppliers as required.
  • Conduct training for Procurement Engineers as necessary.
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values.

ProjectPursuits Preliminary design and bidding phase of the project

  • Provide support for business development efforts by participating in client discussions as needed and answering questions about different suppliers/ products.
  • Review all project specific contract documents to identify scope requirements and specifications.
  • Create the Request for Proposals (RFP) based on the project requirements andsolicit proposals to the respective suppliers.
  • Thoroughly evaluate each proposal to develop an understanding of the products andservices included, as well as the pricing, bidexclusionsand exceptionsto the project requirements and RFP terms.
  • Communicate and collaborate with suppliers to vet out proposalsas well as any potential options or features that may add value to the customer and/or reduce McCarthys risk.
  • Review and levelize bids to identify and mitigate risk in compliance with contract documents. Compile estimate package for all scopes and create recommendations, summarizing risks and opportunities.
  • Provide input to Design team on possible design alternatives and optimizations possible based on different supplier and material capabilities.
  • Support the negotiation efforts and understand the terms of the proposal to ensure alignment with McCarthy's expectations, the ownersrequirements,and the project specific design criteria.
  • Support the development of Cashflow and Cancellation schedules for each material scope for each project.

Preconstruction Post award

  • Upon project award, participate and contribute to the establishment of the project procurement strategy.
  • Facilitatetheprocurement efforts and negotiate the scope of work for key equipment with support ofteam. Assist in developing high-level vendor spend allocation strategies.
  • Prepare contractual exhibits for leadership review of the scope of work for purchase orders.Solicit input from all stakeholders on contract details and lead the approval and execution process.
  • Understand the scope specific budget and impact to the project.
  • Oversee the effective transition to the specific project teamthat will be on-site, buildingeach project.
  • Conduct and lead internal handoff meetings and overseeing effective supplier kickoff meetings to introduce both project teams.

Qualifications

  • Requires BS degree in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3-5 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.General knowledge of supply chain managementandprocurement,as well as construction principles and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • General knowledge of various eBOS scopes preferred.
  • Knowledge of negotiated bids,lumpsum, andDesign/Buildprocessespreferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft365 suite, Bluebeam, e-RFP Sourcing platforms, Monday.com, Contract Lifecycle Management tools, etc.
  • Strong math and analytical skillswith close attention to detail.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
