REPORTS TO: Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Independently interpret test requirements as required by MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC testing. Independently advise, plan and execute Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) and ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing on military electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and subsystems using standard and precision measurement instrumentation. EMI/EMC testing includes MIL-STD-461F EMI/EMC (Conducted Emissions, Conducted Susceptibility, Radiated Emissions, and Radiated Susceptibility tests). Provide subject matter expertise in specialized unique RF test support activities. Maintain expertise of EMI/EMC related MIL-STD requirements and procedural changes. Work independently to solve the most challenging and unique problems which have little precedent for solutions.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Provide expertise to resolve the most challenging and unique problems in the area of responsibility which include anechoic test environments, antenna measurements, and MIL-STD-461 testing.
  • Perform EMI/EMC assessments of electronic systems and subsystems, to include MIL-STD-461 testing. Document test cases, exceedances, waivers, and post-test EMI/EMC reports.
  • Interface with current, former, and potential customers to determine test suitability and plan EMI/EMC testing. Lead testing activities related to EMI/EMC.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across engineering disciplines.

Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (electrical engineering, physics, or related).

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years engineering experience in EMC/EMI requirements, compliance, design, and/or testing per MIL-STD-461 or related standards.
  • Experience in EMI/EMC test planning and execution activities.
  • Hands-on experience with standard EMI/EMC laboratory test equipment, including Spectrum Analyzers, Radio frequency (RF) Amplifiers, Signal Generators, EMI Receivers, Antennas, Couplers, Power Meters, and related lab equipment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work activities are normally performed in an environmentally controlled area.
