ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sales Internal Training Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering the internal training for the global Library, Retail, Corporate, Rights & Licensing & Higher Education Sales teams alongside the Sales Program Director. They will be responsible for working with a cross-divisional group to develop and deliver internal training that provides the sales teams with the skills needed to support excellence in virtual and in-person selling. This training includes soft sales skills, digital product training, and systems training. The role will also provide facilitation for conferences, special events and provide in-person and remote presentations and training.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the internal training of the Sales teams globally, through the creation of custom training programs which address the specific needs of each regional team
  • To work closely with Learning & Development and the GA training team to ensure that the OUP Sales Development Program design and content is relevant for the global sales teams
  • To author content for the OUP Sales Development Program on behalf of Academic Sales
  • To contribute towards the technical build of digital learning modules in Articulate 360
  • To work with the relevant technical experts on developing and delivering all internal systems training for the global sales teams, to include access control, platform updates and changes, and appropriate usage of Salesforce, Tableau, Highspot, and other internal systems
  • To monitor and drive usage of the SDP to ensure that all mandatory courses are completed as needed
  • Spend time with the Sales teams and managers in each market, to understand the needs of each individual team
  • Ensure that training materials and selling tools are up to date, market, channel, and content appropriate to ensure the teams have the best resources
  • Perform on-site and web-based presentations and product training for global Sales teams, partnering with Marketing, Editorial, and other teams in support of special projects and initiatives
  • To accompany the global sales team on customer calls to help develop title-level sales tools and provide one one-on-one coaching as needed
  • To provide facilitation and delivery for all Academic sales team’s training
  • Help to design and organize all global sales conferences including hosting and facilitating sessions.

Travel to Sales Conferences to facilitate trainings may be required.

ABOUT YOU

  • 5+ years of experience with scholarly and/or academic publishing required
  • Experience or evidence of proficiency in training, teaching, and/or public speaking required
  • Ability to rapidly learn, adapt, and master new technologies, new trends, and new products
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Experience with a balance of teamwork and independent work
  • Must maintain positive, collaborative, and effective relationships with other departments across the Press

Position Location: This role can be hybrid, based out of Cary, NC (2 times a week in office) or New York City, NY. This role can also be remote in the United States.

GJC Level: I6 (for internal purposes only)

Salary: $70,000-$100,000 dependent on skills and experience
