POSITION DESCRIPTION: DATA & SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN


I. INTRODUCTION
Functions under the direct supervision of the Data and Systems Manager. Works with the manager in developing decisions and recommendations concerning facility technologies. Assist in providing direction to staff in the application of technological procedures, methods, and training. Position requires communication with various staff members, contractors, and vendors as it relates to information technology for the company. The duties of this position require contact with individuals who are suspected or convicted of offenses against criminal laws.


II. RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES
Has responsibility for the function and maintenance of the electronic systems at the company. Responsible for Technical Support of various software and hardware used. Responsible for resolving IT issues with staff. Write and assist in the development of procedures and training of new and existing programs. Analyze the programs and systems and devise strategies to overcome obstacles related to technology. Participate and facilitate technical directives related to major impact decisions related to technology in City of Faith programs.


III. SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Resolve IT Issues in a timely manner
  • Responsible for Training of staff on City of Faith’s software and new technology that is implemented.
  • Maintain Knowledge base for employees
  • Assist in the retrieval of Reports as required.
  • Must be available to assist in the event the manager is not available.
  • Assist int evaluating technological systems and applications developing new troubleshooting strategies.
  • Assists and creates rational strategies for upgrading hardware and software needs and assists in monitoring essential upgrades related to those systems.
  • Maintain a system that corporate systems are protected from inside and outside threats through password, virus protections and other systems deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that all systems are inventoried and logged.
  • Assist in the constructing and implementing plans to ensure the company’s technology and application systems continues to operate smoothly.
  • Assist in a support system to track technology related problems and their resolutions and indicate actionable steps when troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the creation and utilization of company documentation and streamline the process used for overlapping forms across the facilities.
  • Working closely with other staff to assess the growth needs and maintenance of the company’s network.
  • Maintains a working relationship with technology system vendors by keeping up to date on new developments and logging bugs, and feature requests that could benefit our use case scenario.
  • Track facility equipment and licensing requisitions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by their supervisor.


IV. DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE. ABILITIES AND SKILLS
This position requires a demonstrated ability to follow detailed policies and procedures: to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately. Must have a good understanding of information technology. Must possess a comprehensive understanding of technological workflows, applications, and system efficiency. Must be able to learn and adapt to new programs, applications, and technologies as needed. Must possess an excellent organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to work without direct supervision.


V. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School or equivalent
  • Experience in different applications and correctional software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or CSIT is preferred, however demonstrated knowledge or experience can be accepted in place of a degree.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, software usage and an understanding of multiple computer systems working in a network.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
