Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. 

Essential functions and responsibilities include:            

  • Develop plans and designs for all kinds of projects such as residential, infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and recreational areas, using software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydrographs, hydrocad, storm sewers, etc.
  • Prepare reports such as erosion control inspections, and hydrology reports as required by local jurisdictions for plan approvals.
  • Ensure all work complies with local codes from a local to state level, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
  • Regularly meet with clients, stakeholders, and team members to provide updates, discuss progress, and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors, architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, Government Officials, and other engineers to ensure the project stays on schedule and progresses smoothly.
  • Visit construction sites to monitor progress, and ensure work meets specifications, and is compliant to design. Resolve any issues onsite so the project can continue to progress.

 Minimum requirements:            

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or closely related field of study.
  • Three years of experience in civil engineering, working on mass grading, infrastructure, hydrology/ stormwater management, and utility design.
  • Three years of onsite construction project management experience. 
  • Knowledge of Strength of Materials, Engineering Problem Solving, Structural Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Analysis, and Engineering Hydrology.
  • Skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D for Site Planning & Conceptual Design, Hydraflow Storm Sewers? Hydrographs for grading and drainage design, culvert modeling, and flood analysis.
