PRINCIPAL RF ENGINEER

LOCATION: Eglin Air Force Base, FL

REPORTS TO: Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Support design, fabrication, and testing of unique RF systems and development of new and innovative test methodologies to test advanced weapons and electronic systems in an installed system test scenario. Conduct studies and analyses of all RF test issues related to instrumentation, test configuration, test design, and new test techniques. Provide expertise to resolve the most challenging and unique problems in the area of responsibility. Provide expertise in anechoic test environments, antenna measurements, representation and simulation of ground and airborne RF systems, and installed systems testing.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Provide expertise to resolve the most challenging and unique problems in the area of responsibility.
  • Provide expertise in anechoic hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test environments, precision antenna alignment, measurement and optimization techniques, representation and simulation of ground and airborne RF systems signals and returns, and integrated weapon systems testing.
  • Work independently to solve exceptionally difficult or unique problems for which little, if any, precedent exists.
  • Provide in-depth expertise to design, modify, implement, operate and troubleshoot coordinated electronic test systems, including foreign and domestic seekers, RF simulator and modeling systems, RF generation and test equipment to evaluate performance of RF components, chassis and systems.
  • Support design, fabrication, and testing of unique RF systems and development of new and innovative test methodologies to test advanced weapons and electronic systems in an integrated system test scenario.
  • Conduct and oversee studies and analyses of all RF test issues related to instrumentation, model implementation, test design and test techniques to ensure highest fidelity and realism of GWEF RF simulator and HITL capabilities including modeling and simulation of electronic targets and jammers.
  • Direct all aspects of quality oversight for RF testing in all RF areas of the GWEF.


Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Either an MS from an accredited school in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, physics, mathematics or a closely related technical field as appropriate to the position and a minimum of fifteen years of senior level experience in specialized or focused areas related to electronics systems design and implementation. Or BS from an accredited school in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, physics, mathematics or a closely related technical field as appropriate to the position and a minimum of eighteen years of senior level experience in specialized or focused areas related to electronics systems design and implementation

Experience: Eight years' experience testing RF systems.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Top Secret security clearance. Must meet requirements to operate in enhanced security environments. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are normally performed in an office environment.
