THE JOB
We are currently hiring a People & Culture Generalist! While serving as a member of the people and culture team, this position plays a key role in driving the full-cycle recruitment process, leading culture and engagement initiatives and delivering day-to-day HR functions. With a focus on employee experience, the generalist helps foster a positive work environment by working collaboratively across the organization, supporting employees, managers, and senior leaders.
Talent Management & Onboarding/Offboarding
Manages the full cycle recruitment process for assigned roles.
Uses modern-day conventional and unconventional resources, such as online job boards, social media, career fairs, networking sites, and other channels to identify and source active and passive candidates. Creates and maintains target candidate list for difficult to fill positions and key roles.
Establishes community relationships with agencies, schools, job service offices, and other organizations to generate sufficient qualified applicants to fill positions in a timely manner.
Designs, implements and manages initiatives that enhance the overall employee journey from onboarding to offboarding.
Develops, maintains, monitors, and reports key metrics to measure recruitment effort effectiveness, cycle time, costs and turnover.
Employee Experience
Acts as a point of contact for employee questions regarding workplace matters.
Conducts stay and exit interviews and share insights to improve employee retention.
Culture & Employee Engagement
Identifies, plans and executes cultural initiatives, recognition programs, and appreciation events to promote a positive workplace culture and encourage connection.
Champions inclusion and belonging across all programs and processes.
Develops, produces and maintains the Company’s internal marketing and communication materials.
Manages the Company’s employee store including budget and vendor management. Oversees the design, printing, ordering and distribution of company logo merchandise.
HR Operations & Compliance
Maintains employee records and HRIS data with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Facilitates US Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations and respiratory health programs. Manages the hearing conservation and medical surveillance programs.
Supports the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Program as a certified specimen collector and maintains accurate records in accordance with retention requirements.
Manages driving record inquiries and eligibility to operate company vehicles.
Ensures compliance with labor laws, company policies, and best practices.
Manages self and others in support of safe and incident-free operations. Responsible for knowing and abiding by applicable safety management system policies and procedures.
THE BENEFITS & PAY
Position Hiring Range: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 (depending on experience and qualifications)

THE CATCH
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field of study, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Human Resources at generalist level, and in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to the human resources function.
Working knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements preferred.
Proven experience leveraging varying forms of recruitment technology and techniques such as social media, open web sourcing and others to identify and engage talent.
Working knowledge and experience using ERP and Applicant Tracking Systems (Oracle Taleo preferred).
Event planning and internal communications experience.
Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Work Identification Credential (TWIC) Card from the Department of Homeland Security.
Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and insurable driving record in order to operate company owned vehicles.
