We are currently seeking a resourceful, self-motivated and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with the ability to provide high-level engineering services for a broad range of clientele. Applications for this position are being sought for B&L’s office locations in New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10-15+ years of diverse consulting engineering experience on municipal, commercial, private, and/or industrial facilities projects. Candidates should possess acute analytical skills, the capability to design and manage small to large projects, and a comprehensive technical background across all facets of mechanical engineering.


Specific areas of expertise could include:

  • chilled water systems,
  • hot water systems,
  • industrial process related mechanical,
  • building HVAC,
  • controls,
  • plumbing systems and fire protection.


Excellent communication and writing skills are essential to accomplish synergistic interaction with both technical clients and co-worker/staff. Software capabilities must include Microsoft Office platform, AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design/energy analysis software (e.g. Carrier HAP). Technical capabilities must include a strong working knowledge in the application of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mechanical power systems, digital control systems, building codes and industry standards such as ASHRAE. Additionally, a broad familiarity with the work of other project team members, including architects and structural, electrical and civil engineers is desired to allow for effective, integrated and well-coordinated project design solutions. Desired soft skills include interfacing with internal and external clients, mentoring younger staff, and assistance with proposal development.


This position will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to develop and manage dynamic, challenging projects that incorporate innovative and unique goals and objectives. Additional industry certifications, including Certified Energy Manager or LEED AP, are considered a plus. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in NY, PA or MD (or eligibility to obtain) is desired.


Estimated Pay Range: $115,000 - $145,000/year.

Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
