Position Description:

The asphalt terminal operator is responsible for performing duties related to the liquid asphalt terminal operation, and the safe and responsible operation of all applicable machinery and equipment


Essential Functions:

The following list provides examples of the functions and physical demands of the position; however, it is not exhaustive of all daily activities. The incumbent may be required to perform any or all of the following tasks on a given day or week:


  • Stand for up to 10-12 hours (rest breaks will be provided as required by law).
  • Use hands, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear.
  • Walk, climb stairs, ladders, and tanks (over 40 feet).
  • Stoop, bend, twist, kneel, and crouch.
  • Must be able to consistently lift and/or manipulate objects requiring push/pull force of approximately 50 pounds.
  • Work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Perform light maintenance around the facility as directed by the Terminal Manager.
  • Facilitate the loading and offloading of liquid asphalt trucks and vessels to and from above-ground tanks. This includes but is not limited to climbing to the top of tanks, opening tank valves, and performing any other tasks as directed by the Terminal Manager or other Senior Management.
  • Follow and stay up to date with all Standard Operating Procedures, Process Control Guidelines, and Safe Work Practices, while ensuring compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and directives.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with the work schedule, including working extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.


Position Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must demonstrate reliability, responsibility, honesty, organization, and sound judgment.
  • Strong communication skills and basic math proficiency required.
  • 2–3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Industry-related experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a Federal Background Check and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).


Work Conditions:

Incumbent must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise level (PPE will be provided, including hearing protection as required), long hours standing, walking, and laboring outdoors in varying weather conditions – frequently in extreme heat, the most demanding time of the season.

Employee may sit for an hour or more at a time.

Independent Action:

Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with senior teammates and Terminal Manager where clarification or exception to procedure may be required.
