Responsibilities

This is a full-time remote position that can be located anywhere in the U.S.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse with certified coding expertise to join our Intellectual Property team. The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of clinical knowledge, coding proficiency, and an understanding of intellectual property concepts. This role will involve analyzing complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Assist in patent applications related to medical bill review evaluation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, analyze, and update existing coding edits.
  • Provide clinical expertise in the development and protection of medical bill review intellectual property.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing patent applications for medical bill review audit. 
  • Collaborate with attorneys, inventors, and other team members on IP strategy and protection.
  • Participate in pending and patentability assessments for medical bill review inventions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical documents and reports.
  • Stay current with advancements in medical technology.


Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred
  • Current certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or CCS-P (AAPC or AIHMA)
  • Minimum 2+ year’s experience using and applying the codes and rules of ICD-10-CM (all three volumes), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and HCPCS Level II
  • Minimum 2+ year’s experience in health insurance, workers’ compensation and/or the handling of automobile medical claims and billing is preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. 3+ years’ experience using EXCEL, Word experience required
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface with personnel at all levels of the organization.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Orthopedic clinical experience
  • Familiarity with intellectual property concepts and patent processes
  • Additional certifications in specialized areas of nursing or healthcare
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in healthcare.
