Job Details:

The College of Pharmacy on the Atlanta, Georgia campus is searching for a Research Assistant I, II, or III.


Responsibilities:

Under supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Nader Moniri, the research assistant will conduct routine cell, tissue, or animal based experiments, analyze and record the results, and assist other members of the research team. The research assistant is also charged with maintaining laboratory inventory, ordering reagents, equipment, supplies, and other duties as noted below:

Duties include:

-General upkeep and maintaining of cleanliness of lab space and organization of supplies for easy access;
-Delivery collection and reporting;
-Outreach to vendors/services for products and repairs;
-Preparation and aliquoting of common reagents;
-Maintenance of supply tanks including LN2, N2, CO2, and distilled water;
-Cleaning and maintenance of cell incubators, filling water and monitoring of CO2 levels;
-Washing of glassware and tools;
-Upkeep of laboratory supplies sterilization of glassware, pipet tips, tubes, etc.;
-Preparation of common use buffers and cleaning agents;
-Coordination of instrument sign-ups between labs;
-General troubleshooting assistance and repair for instrument issues;
-Disposal of waste through proper protocols including general, biohazard, chemical, and radioactive waste.

Qualifications:

The Research Assistant I position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and some research experience. This is a non-exempt role.

The Research Assistant II position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and a minimum of one year of related research experience. This is a non-exempt role.

The Research Assistant III position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field and three years of related research experience of which some of that time must be in a lead role or a related master's degree from an accredited college/university and one year of relevant research experience of which some of that time must be in a lead role. This is an exempt role.
