The Graduate and International Admissions Program / Student Advisor plays a key role in shaping and executing recruitment strategies to attract graduate and international students to SIUE. This position will work closely with a collaborative team to develop long-term market cultivation strategies, foster recruitment relationships, and manage day-to-day recruitment efforts. As a central figure in the recruitment process, the Advisor will help establish partnerships with domestic and international institutions, support diversity initiatives, and ensure an exceptional experience for prospective students from inquiry to enrollment.
What You'll Do!
- Graduate & International Recruitment Strategy: Develop and implement both short-term and long-term recruitment strategies for graduate and international students. Work with graduate schools and academic departments to create customized recruitment programs, including initiatives aimed at recruiting diverse student populations.
- Partnership Development: Build strong relationships with domestic feeder institutions, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). Engage in recruitment activities such as college fairs and recruitment events, creating pathways for students to join graduate programs at SIUE.
- International Recruitment Collaboration: Partner with International Student Services and the Director of Graduate and International Recruitment to plan and implement international recruitment efforts. Assist in activities designed to attract and support prospective international students through the admissions process.
- On-the-Road Recruitment: Travel to domestic and international events, including education fairs, recruitment events, and campus visits, to promote SIUE's graduate and international programs. Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students, answering inquiries and providing guidance through the application and enrollment process.
- Strategic Communication Plans: Work with the Enrollment Management IT specialist to develop and implement communication plans for prospective and admitted graduate and international students. Utilize platforms like Radius and other university communication tools to engage prospective students and guide them through the application process.
- Diversity and Inclusion Efforts: Lead initiatives aimed at increasing diversity in graduate programs, working with minority-serving institutions to arrange campus visits and promoting graduate school opportunities to underrepresented student groups.
- Event Planning & Coordination: Collaborate with the Graduate School, academic departments, and other stakeholders to plan and execute recruitment events such as Graduate Open Houses, Graduate Scholar Awards, and graduate student fairs. Coordinate campus visits and provide customized experiences for prospective graduate students.
- Admissions Support: Assist with the administration and implementation of SIUE's graduate and international admissions policies and processes. Work closely with admissions officers, program directors, and enrollment management teams to ensure smooth application evaluations and timely communication with applicants. Stay current on industry trends and suggest policy updates when necessary.
- Vendor & Partner Relations: Manage relationships with external vendors, including lead generation service providers and authorized international recruitment agents, to enhance recruitment efforts. Keep up-to-date with best practices in recruitment strategies and ensure effective communication with prospective and admitted students.
- Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department to develop and refine marketing materials and digital content related to graduate and international recruitment. Support efforts to keep the graduate and international admissions websites current and relevant.
- Special Projects & Support: Assist with various international projects, such as supporting exchange programs, dual degree programs, international transfers, and scholarship initiatives (e.g., Meridian Scholar Program). Take on additional specialized projects as assigned.

Or- Master's degree and 1 or more year of experience in recruitment or higher education student services, or teaching at a secondary education level or higher
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated success in recruiting international or graduate students
- Experience working with SCT Banner and/or Slate.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and/or with diversity initiatives
- Experience working with international student visas and/or the ability to speak more than one language fluently
Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, be able to make independent judgments under pressure, and demonstrate an aptitude for accuracy and detail.
Candidates must be able to travel, be willing to work irregular hours at times, and demonstrate that they can work effectively with individuals from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
