Description:

ATA Services, Inc. is currently seeking to hire a Community Engagement Specialist to work on a temporary assignment. This job is hybrid but the applicant must live in the Santa Fe or Albuquerque area.

  • Pay Rate: $60.00 per hour with weekly pay.
  • Start Date: July 1, 2025
  • Location: Hybrid – Preferably within the Albuquerque or Santa Fe Metro Area. Some travel required (approx. 30%).
  • Schedule: 20-25 hrs/week, 6 months
  • Assignment Length: July 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025

Scope of Work:

The Community Engagement Specialist will strengthen partnerships and build trust with communities across New Mexico, particularly those historically underserved or marginalized in public health decision-making. The contractor will support the development of community-informed strategies to promote health equity by conducting outreach, facilitating dialogue, and creating feedback loops between the department and local communities.

This role includes attending community events, supporting health fairs or mobile outreach clinics, and facilitating listening sessions in collaboration with trusted community-based organizations (CBOs) and Tribal governments. The contractor will ensure that engagement efforts reflect cultural sensitivity, linguistic accessibility, and respect for diverse traditions, particularly when engaging with Indigenous populations. All tribal-related engagement will be coordinated in partnership with the Office of Tribal Affairs to ensure government-to-government respect and compliance.

The contractor will document insights gathered during community engagement activities and contribute to agency reports and public-facing materials. This role is essential in grounding NMDOH programs in lived experiences and co-developing solutions that reflect community voice and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify partnership opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in public health, social work, or community organizing
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Experience engaging diverse, underserved populations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with New Mexico’s rural and tribal communities
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills
  • Experience in health equity or outreach initiatives
