JobSummary:
The Project Engineer for the Technology and Automation division ofEDG is responsible for the management, development and implementation of technologyprojects and larger consulting engagements. The project engineer coordinates and directs discipline resourcesincluding engineers, specialists, project controls, document control, designersand drafters to accomplish their tasks. Due to the technical nature of the projects, the project engineer willoften act as the technical authority providing oversight and approval of functionalspecifications and other key deliverables.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
- Full responsibility for the technical delivery of the project or component of larger projects in support of the project manager;
- Acts in the project manager role for smaller engagements;
- Provides direction to lead the technical project team;
- Establishes and manages detailed project design, and engineering scope of work;
- Establishes or assists in establishing the detailed project execution plan and development of the overall budget and schedule;
- Reviews and approves design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction or procurement use;
- Supervises preparation of, reviews and endorses bid analyses and recommendations for procurement of equipment material and services within engineering scope of responsibility;
- Resolves field-initiated questions on engineering;
- Performs and manages the work in accordance with relevant procedures, design guides and application programs;
- Undertakes design co-ordination meetings with construction at various phases of the project.
- Interacts with client on all engineering and technical matters;
- Assists in proposals, in technical matters, cost estimation etc. during business development phase of projects.
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering,Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or similardiscipline;
• Ten (10) or more years of technical experiencedesigning and implementing control systems in the offshore upstream industry;
• Five (5) or more years of project engineeringexperience in the automation industry;
• Fifteen (15) or more years of total experiencein the automation industry;
• Technical hands-on knowledge of relatedengineering systems, engineering calculations, application of engineering andconstruction methods and materials, and engineering application of computersoftware specially related to complexities of upstream, downstream, midstream,chemical facilities of all types;
• Knowledge of project engineering processes andprocedures;
• Experience performing engineering forConceptual Studies, FEED, Detailed Engineering, Commissioning, and Startup;
• Experience in engineering design of largemodularized facilities;
• Knowledge of relatedfabrication/construction/installation practices and economics and currentknowledge of new methods of design and construction;
• Knowledge of industry / regulatory codes andstandards;
• Skill in oral and written communication;
• Demonstrated skill in supervision;
• Strong organizational and managerial skillsrelated to complex engineering activities.
WorkingConditions:• Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment (Private or Semi-Private Office) but also requires occasionaltravel to off-site work locations;
• Field duties require outdoor work in aconstruction site type atmosphere;
• Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel;
• Working on a construction site or in plantand/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
PhysicalRequirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):• Must be able to lift and carry five (20)pounds;
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities which permits employee to communicateeffectively;
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
• Sufficient vision or other powers ofobservation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit theemployee to perform routine office duties;
• Sufficient personal mobility and physicalreflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-sitelocations.
