The Department of Mechanical & Facilities Engineering at Maritime College, State University of New York is seeking to fill a mechanical engineering faculty position. The Maritime College mechanical engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and is focused on applied mechanics. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Teach core engineering courses and applied mechanics courses for mechanical engineering majors in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Faculty will be encouraged to conduct applied research in engineering or other areas of scholarship



Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • A reasonable expectation of timely completion of a Ph.D.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical industrial or research experience is highly desirable, particularly marine industrial experience
  • Experience with first-year introductory engineering courses
  • Professional Engineering license or a USCG license as a marine engineering officer

Note: Highly qualified individuals not holding a Ph.D. may be considered for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position.



Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Assistant Professor position is 10 months tenure track UUP position. The incumbent will be considered for those already tenured or with significant previous academic experience and a demonstrated track record of success. The anticipated salary range is $85,000 - $95,000 and it is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation includes an outstanding benefits package in accordance with the contract between the State University of New York and United University Professionals. Special Notes: This is a full-time academic year appointment that is subject to budget approval. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
