Aegis Aerospace is currently looking for a Ground Operations Manager to join our team.
The Aegis Ground Operations Manager is responsible for managing the design, development, and operation of the NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Service (CLPS) CS-6 Task Order ground operations in support of missions utilizing the ORBITBeyond lunar lander vehicle (LLV) and associated payload operations from the spacecraft Mission Control Center (MCC) located in Houston, Texas. This work includes ensuring the operations team, the ground systems and network teams are trained and ready to perform the assigned mission. To accomplish this goal, the Manager is responsible for the coordination and the end-to-end provision of the services and facilities to all users of the mission operations infrastructure which consist of the Mission Operations Control Room (MOCR), interface to payload user rooms, security provisions, uninterruptable power requirements, data analysis rooms, communications and data connectivity, etc.
This position will work closely with the CS-6 Program Manager, OBI lunar lander spacecraft vendors, CS-6 mission designers, system integrators, mission control processing system vendors, launch team, space-to-ground network communications, and payload stakeholders to identify the ground operational requirements. The Ground Operations Manager will be responsible for and manage the MCC Architecture Requirements Baseline and Ground Operations Specifications.
The Ground Operations Manager will allocate the ground operational requirements to the OBI stakeholders and will work with the Program Manager to manage the ground operations scope, schedule, and budget. The Ground Operations Manager establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program issues and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.
Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for assuring the Lander Mission Simulator (LMS) is delivered and integrated into the MCC complex in order to support (1) spacecraft procedure development and (2) mission rehearsals.
The Manager will support the OBI Program Manager to define the ground operations organization, and will be responsible for hiring, training, and managing of OBI Ground Operations personnel.
The Ground Operations Manager will be responsible for OBI MCC mission readiness/certification, including facility, interfaces, organization, tools, procedures, training, simulations, and testing. The position will provide status reporting to OBI and NASA management as required and will participate in key milestone gates including PDR, MCR, CDR, Integration Reviews, and Readiness Reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• BS in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 15+ yrs experience, knowledge of space – to – ground network interfaces
• Experience with developing ops control center.
• experience related to space flight operations, control center operations and/or ground or space network operations
• Experience with spacecraft ground processing systems
• Experience with telemetry, command, or trajectory data systems
• Ability to effectively work in a multi-discipline team and provide technical guidance and insight.
• Effective communication and ability to resolve conflicts.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical, schedule and budget conflicts.
Desired
• 10+ years of experience in a leadership position or systems engineering for spacecraft.
• Flexibility to meet changing program needs.
