Position Summary

The Maintenance Laborer is responsible for maintaining the physical condition of buildings within KIC Facilities and ensuring they are always in optimum operating condition.


Responsibilities

  • Carry out directives of supervisor.
  • Must be able to work with co-workers with a positive attitude.
  • Prep for maintenance repair work and clean up after job.
  • Minor preventative maintenance as directed.
  • Assist with carpet and linoleum removal and installation.
  • Perform interior and exterior painting preparations includes drywall prep work.
  • Complete all work orders tasks assigned in a timely manner.
  • Remove snow/ice from all company owned buildings entries' as needed.
  • Use all hand and power tools required and in a safe manner. Secure all hand tools when not in use.
  • Measure, cut, nail (or fasten) materials as required.
  • Use proper rigging and lifting techniques as required.
  • Light duty cleaning when required.
  • Observe all applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • HS Diploma / GED required or obtainable within 12 months of hire
  • 1 year experience as a laborer in a maintenance field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Must be able to properly use various hand and power tools.
  • General knowledge of building maintenance preferred.

Working Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a fast paced multi-tasking environment requiring regular attendance of 40 hours per week. Work may require occasional overtime. While performing job duties, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.

  • Required to work standing up, walk, use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment
  • Speak and listen, both over the phone and in person to customers and co-workers
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to work in a seated position, climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 75lbs, and occasionally lift and/or more 75-100lbs.
  • Vision requirements include: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
