The Painter is responsible for performing skilled painting work in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of healthcare facility buildings, ensuring a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires the ability to work independently during evening and weekend hours with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare surfaces for painting, including patching, sanding, and priming walls, ceilings, doors, and trim.
Apply paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
Perform minor drywall repairs, caulking, and other surface preparation as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment; ensure proper signage and containment of work areas to minimize disruption in patient care areas.
Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to complete painting projects efficiently and with minimal impact on operations.
Follow infection prevention protocols and comply with hospital safety and regulatory guidelines.
Maintain inventory of painting supplies and materials and notify supervisor of needed replacements.
Respond to urgent painting or repair requests as needed during assigned shifts.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and time spent on tasks.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial or institutional painting, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Knowledge of proper surface preparation, application techniques, and safety protocols.
Ability to read work orders and follow verbal and written instructions.
Must be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various physical positions.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with flexibility for occasional additional hours as needed.
Understanding of infection control and safety standards in healthcare settings is preferred.
Basic knowledge of minor drywall or plaster repairs is a plus.
