The Clinical Assistant for the Student Health Center will be a certified athletic trainer who will have clinical and administrative roles in the department. The Clinical Assistant will assist with daily clinical and administrative duties, primarily supporting the Head Team Physician with an emphasis on orthopedic issues and primary medical care for undergraduate and graduate students in the outpatient setting of the Student Health Center. This is a part-time, 20 hours/week, 10-month position (anticipated March – December) with some remote work during the summer months.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Head Team Physician with patient histories and vital sign evaluations.
- Assist Head Team Physician with chart preparation relative to retrieving orthopedic imaging studies such as X-ray, MRI, CT scan reports and various other studies pertaining to the patient’s exam.
- Serve as primary liaison between the Student Health Center and the Certified Athletic Trainers in the Athletics Department.
- Assist Head Team Physician preparing injections for orthopedic procedures and educating students on wellness and the use of orthopedic medical equipment.
- Assist with patient referrals to outside medical specialists and other medical services as necessary.
- Assist with scanning information into patient records, including all orders and prescriptions on date of service.
- Review incoming first-year and transfer student athlete health records and prepare student athlete Health Center charts for pre-participation physicals.
- Review student athlete health insurance enrollment/waiver processes as necessary.
- Oversee and manage orthopedic equipment inventory in the Student Health Center.
- Assist with patient scheduling in the Student Health Center.
- Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
- Bachelor’s degree, and certification as an Athletic Trainer
Minimum Work Experience
- Basic clinical assessment, computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Two years of recent clinical athletic training experience preferably in higher education.
- Knowledge of orthopedic equipment, computer, phone, fax machine
Preferred Qualifications:
- Higher Education experience
