The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated and team-orientated individual with expertise and experience in teaching foundational pharmaceutical sciences. The ideal applicant will have an established track record of accomplishments in science-based teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional degree level. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in subjects related to the pharmaceutical sciences that may include topics such as biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, drug development, dosage forms, anatomy & physiology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. This instruction will include large and small classroom settings, active learning, engaging education, and high-quality assessments in order to support our legacy of excellence in education. The incumbent will work seamlessly with faculty from both the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics in order to ensure that all accreditation standards and contemporary content needs are met for our learners. The individual is expected to teach in the professional and graduate programs and may assist in the development and teaching of undergraduate courses that will increase awareness and stimulate interest in the school’s Doctor of Pharmacy and MS/PhD Programs.
The faculty position will be at the rank of Instructor in the appointment stream and will be based on a 9-month appointment. The ideal candidate will have a PharmD and/or PhD in pharmaceutical sciences; other health-related disciplines will also be considered. The ideal candidate will have prior teaching experience with an objective track record of high-quality instruction. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
