General Summary: The Communication, Art & Design Department at Middlesex Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Communication with a focus on Film and Television Production.

The successful candidate will be an industry-experienced professional with the ability to teach a wide range of courses in film and television production, including but not limited to:

  • Film Production
  • Television Studio and Field Production
  • Editing and Post-Production
  • Cinematography
  • Lighting

The faculty member will engage a diverse student population through learner-centered teaching, collaborate on curriculum development that aligns with MCC's strategic directions, and actively contribute to departmental efforts in community partnerships, internships, and student success initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of communication courses related to film and television production.
  • Apply industry-standard production techniques and software in classroom settings.
  • Incorporate experiential learning opportunities such as internships, community media projects, and collaborations with industry partners.
  • Develop instructional materials and innovative teaching methods aligned with course, program, and institutional learning outcomes.
  • Utilize inclusive pedagogies to engage a diverse student body
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum review, assessment, and development, including contributions to micro-credential programs.
  • Advise students majoring in Communication and related CA&D programs.
  • Participate in division and college committees and initiatives.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaborations and support MCC's commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and student success.
  • Maintain professional development in both academic and industry-related areas.


Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Communication, Film/Television Production, Media Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in teaching
  • Extensive professional experience in the film and/or television industry.
  • Ability to teach a wide range of film and television production courses.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate collegially across disciplines.
  • Experience or interest in equity-minded teaching practices and closing achievement gaps.
  • Commitment to continuous professional improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Experience in developing and implementing media-related micro-credentials.
  • Familiarity with online and hybrid course development and delivery (Blackboard LMS proficiency a plus).
  • Student advising experience, particularly in supporting diverse populations.
  • Record of industry partnerships that enhance educational opportunities for students.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.

Please note, the faculty rank of Assistant Professor may be subject to change in accordance with Article XVII of the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Salary Range: $58,438 is the starting salary for Column B under the MCCC 2025 Salary Grids for an Assistant Professor with a Master's Degree; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
