Overview

EagleView, the leader in aerial imagery, is hiring a hands-on R&D Operations Lead as part of the Engineering organization. The R&D Operations Lead will drive and support continuous process improvement initiatives and establish new governance and metrics programs across R&D. We are a fast paced, energetic team driven by the creation and delivery of innovative imagery & geospatial products and solutions. We’re looking for motivated, organized, and independent team members. This position requires good communication skills and the ability to quickly pick up new technologies.


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analytically oriented leader to leverage their significant Engineering Ops experience, portfolio & program management skills, and passion for continuous improvement to identify and collaboratively drive new levels of efficiency, transparency, and governance across EagleView’s R&D organization. You will partner closely with Release Train Engineers (RTEs), global R&D leadership, Business Owners, Product Ops, and Program Managers to drive lean portfolio management initiatives, lead resource capacity planning, and establish robust Engineering metrics to measure and improve our overall operational performance in delivering value to our customers in ever faster iterations.


Responsibilities

R&D Roadmap Planning Facilitation

  • Facilitate our continuous Roadmap Planning efforts in collaboration with R&D Leadership and Product Operations.
  • Establish and drive a continuous roadmap planning lifecycle across R&D.
  • Maintain and publish roadmap review schedules, govern roadmap artifact preparation, facilitate capacity modeling, and publish updated roadmaps as required.

Lean Portfolio Management Leadership & Governance

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that evolve and mature our lean portfolio management (LPM) process.
  • Steward LPM status and intake reviews including the preparation and delivery of relevant LPM dashboards and executive metrics.
  • Work closely with the CTPO, Product Operations, Epic Owners, and Business Owners in fully institutionalizing our LPM process.

Capacity Management & Portfolio Analysis

  • Develop and manage models for R&D capacity planning to enable accurate resource forecasting and improve the visibility of staff utilization across current and planned R&D programs.
  • In partnership with the FP&A team, support R&D financial budget planning and portfolio analysis processes.

R&D Productivity & Operating Metrics Management

  • Lead the collection and reporting on key productivity metrics (e.g., velocity, cycle time, AI tool impact, etc.) and operating metrics (e.g., feature delivery, predictability, PI preparedness, estimate vs actual, defect trends, etc.) to provide objective measures of R&D-wide performance.
  • Analyze trends and identify areas for operational improvement in the end-to-end planning & delivery process.
  • Assist in the deployment and governance of productivity and software lifecycle management tools.

Agile Process Governance Models & Tooling

  • Collaborate with Release Train Engineers and leaders in both Engineering and Product to define, implement, and continuously optimize our Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) as well as the governance models to drive their adoption and compliance.
  • Lead efforts to improve existing process management tooling (e.g. Jira, Jira Align, Power BI, etc.) and drive initiatives to assess and implement new process tooling that drives meaningful productivity gains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical or STEM major.
  • 10+ years of progressive hands-on experience working within a global Engineering Operations, Technical Program Management, Agile Program office, or Technology Planning & Effectiveness team in an operations-oriented role.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource capacity modeling and forecasting, particularly within a global software engineering organizational context.
  • Prior experience leading lean portfolio management processes and practices, including the ability to identify and implement LPM continuous improvement initiatives across a global R&D Organization.
  • Strong understanding of various Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe and the key operational and outcome-based metrics associated with those frameworks.
  • Expert analytical skills with experience in defining, tracking, reporting and assessing productivity and operational metrics relevant to both Engineering and Product functions.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing and developing executive-level dashboards using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel, Power BI) to represent key metrics and outcomes for R&D & Executive Management.
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills with a commitment to data-driven decision-making in the context of R&D planning and delivery process improvement.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build consensus across all levels of R&D leadership & management.
  • Familiarity with relevant software development, process management, and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, AI Dev tools, and other SDLC governance tools).

Preferred

  • Experience working in a global Scaled Agile-based R&D organization within a large-scale platform or geospatial technology company.
  • MBA or other STEM-based Master’s degree.
  • Experience implementing productivity improvement initiatives across both Engineering and Product organizations on a global scale.
  • Experience with data analysis techniques including the use of AI-based toolsets.
  • Familiarity with product & software engineering management methodologies and metrics.

This is a full-time, remote role with a salary range of $138,300-$180,000, bonus eligible.
