Position Title: FlexHead Assembler
Department: Manufacturing & Distribution - Assembly

Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00 / hour


FlexHead Assembler


Assemble finished goods from parts and sub-assemblies for a new stainless steel product line in a high volume production environment.




Key Responsibilities


  • Prepares work to be completed by understanding assembly instructions, print specifications and parts list.
  • Positions parts by using jigs.
  • Assembles components by using hand tools and operating power tools, examines connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed components to print.
  • Resolves assembly problems by notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Documents actions by completing production forms.
  • Work from packing procedures, instructions, or at the direction of supervisor to properly prepare and pack materials for shipment.
  • Make up boxes, crates, or cartons using tape machines, staple gun, saw, power nailer and drill in accordance with customer specification. Ensure that boxes, crates, etc. are properly lined for export shipment when required.
  • Secure shipping containers using the necessary material such as staple gun, tape, protective strips, twist pliers, and steel banding machines.
  • Complete all required documentation, attach packing list to enclosure, transfer all necessary information to exterior of package and forward completed packages to loading dock area for shipment. Weigh packages, properly fill in all necessary information on travelers, and turn in completed document package to shipping office.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Perform all job functions in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Identify and assist in remediation of any and all safety hazards in the work place.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Team Leader/Supervisor.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise



Minimum Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be familiar with the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to be certified to operate a forklift and use hoists to pick up heavy parts.
  • General computer skills.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; 1 - 3 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a metals assembly environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; bend; walk; use hand/fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; reach above/below shoulder; turn head sideways, up and down; good eye/hand dexterity; climb ladders/stairs; and talk or hear. The employee must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, mid-range vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Annual eye examinations may be required.
  • Capable of standing while operating equipment up to 12 hours daily
  • Willing and able to work overtime as required
  • Willing to work any shift as necessary
Work Environment: The work environment is representative of those in a standard machine shop environment including extreme cold and heat. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The work environment consists of a number assembly, welding and machine shop areas. While the Company makes every effort to reduce and eliminate all safety hazards, this type of environment does involve safety hazards, which require extra care on the part of the employee. Such hazards include, but are not limited to: moderate to high pressure test gases, high electrical voltages; chemicals; and sharp objects, such as might be generated around machine tools. The noise in the work environment is moderate to high. Temperature extremes are regulated, but not as closely as typical indoor offices. Personnel protection equipment is provided.
