Position Summary:

A-State's Department of Mathematics & Statistics invites applications for a one-year 9-month position at the instructor level beginning August 16, 2025. This is a full-time temporary non-tenure track teaching position in Mathematics and Statistics.

The position carries a 15- hour load per semester. The courses offered in the department include general education and service courses, and courses that support the following programs: B.S. Actuarial Science, B.S. in Mathematics, B.S.E. in Mathematics, M.S. in Mathematics, MS in Statistics, and M.S.E. in Mathematics.

We also offer undergraduate minors in mathematics and statistics, certificates in undergraduate statistics and graduate statistics, and a Ph.D. Minor in Statistics. Instructors participate in a team environment that supports and implements strategies for curriculum development, continuous improvement and assessment of student learning, and excellence in teaching.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The candidate will be expected to teach developmental math and general education math courses. Temporary instructors will teach 15 hours each semester and hold a minimum of 5 additional office hours each week. Additional responsibilities include service to the department

  • Complies with department, college, and university policies
  • Uses digital technologies and software as they apply to pedagogy and the promotion of student learning and engagement
  • Collaborates with faculty on projects that enhance student active learning in the traditional environment
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

A strong commitment to excellent teaching and student success is essential.

Applicants should have documented successful teaching experience in mathematics; appropriate experience to demonstrate a strong commitment to the teaching of freshman and sophomore-level mathematics content that supports a variety of degree programs; experience teaching in a technology-supported mathematics learning environment; and appropriate experience to demonstrate effective and dedicated participation in collaborative academic environments.
Successful candidates are expected to have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff with diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have completed all degree requirements for the master's degree in mathematics or statistics by August 15, 2025.

Applicants should have documented successful teaching experience in mathematics in the college setting (may include TA experience).
