Purpose of the Job:
The Quality and Process Engineer is responsible for planning, observing and evaluating product quality improvements in the manufacturing environment. This position will include trouble shooting and improvement of fabricated products. This position will develop procedures and methods to improve safety, efficiency, quality and material handling as well as determine causes of equipment/product problems and developing proper corrective action.
Essential Functions:
• Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures.
• Support internal and external audits (ISO, customer audits, etc)
• Provide planning, observation, direction to operators, technical record keeping, evaluation and recommendations for further action that improve product quality and manufacturing throughput
• Develop procedures and methods to improve safety, efficiency, quality and material handling, etc., and provide training for this to all appropriate personnel
• Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective actions
• Lead Continuous Improvement Activities to improve operations
• Communicate to and train personnel in process methods and other appropriate technical subjects
• Ability to evaluate and interpret data
• Identify equipment problems and as needed, assist and direct maintenance in their resolution
• Identify and design or contract the design of equipment modifications to enhance manufacturing capabilities
• Provide quality support to customers and suppliers
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities:
• Owner of various Plant Level KPI
• Manage Site ISO 9001 Certification
Qualifications to Meet Minimum Requirements:
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 3 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in quality or process engineering.
• Experience with quality tools (FMEA, SPC, Control Plans, 8D)
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• High level of mechanical aptitude
• Experience in Quality and Engineering
• Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects and duties
• Ability to work with and communicate technical information to a large group of co-workers and managers with varying technical comprehension.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
