JOB DESCRIPTION:

Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on incoming goods and products. The Cell/Team Leader position acts as a coach and technical advisor to the work cell/work area team. This role leads the work flow within the assigned cell/location. This position has supervisory responsibilities as it relates to workflow. This role is not responsible for management of personnel. All personnel issues or concerns are to be communicated to the Production Supervisor or Operations Manager for further handling.

Essential Functions

  • Supports Quality Engineering for all inspection and data collection activities to support FAI (First Article Inspection), customer source inspections and Rail Services inspection as directed.
  • Reports non-conformances and discusses corrective action with team members.
  • Determines whether product is acceptable or rejected, initiates rejection notices, and maintains accurate written records of the inspections performed, including the results.
  • Recognizes conditions outside their specific areas of inspection which require action and refers the items to the responsible manager.
  • Verify and document all appraisal activities both on paper form as well as utilizing computer software such as Word, Excel, and the SAP system.
  • Accurate and timely completion of customer documentation is necessary.
  • Proper selection and use of precision measuring tools and equipment is required.
  • Assist in audits such as IRIS, ISO, and KPS of the receiving inspection area.
  • Work with warehouse inspection team to insure smooth flow of material through the inspection area.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with company's rules and policies.
  • Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.
  • Must understand and comply with applicable standards. ( i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO/TS 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and CMMI).

  • Working knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing

  • Thorough Understanding of Measurement Techniques & Tools

  • Pneumatic / hydraulic/HVAC assembly experience
  • This position requires thorough knowledge of inspection techniques, methods and tools to verify a variety of parts.

In addition to position responsibilities, cell/team leader may:

  • Contribute to planning and effective resource allocation in the production or work group.
  • Plan own work steps in cooperation with other team members, providing direction and job assignment to team members that utilizes each to the best of their abilities.
  • Monitor availability of parts, tools and machines needed to complete product in the relevant sequential steps according to the overall assembly or work processes.
  • Contributes to plan, execution, and analysis of the results of test routines and procedures, often in a complex environment.
  • Assists, analyzes, and/or acts in resolving routine manufacturing related problems affecting daily operations. Promptly report any topics from assigned area which inhibit performance, especially if expectations may not be met, to management.
  • Train and mentor personnel as requested or needed.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality requirements, manufacturing processes and standards for all work performed. Notify the Production Supervisor or Segment Leader of safety concerns, product deficiencies, or design problems.

The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Westminster, MD is $31.35 to $36.85 per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Knorr Brake Co. is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year.
