Job Summary
The Smart Campus Community Coordinator serves as a vital bridge between the University of Kentucky and the broader Lexington and Kentucky communities. Focused on outreach, engagement, and relationship-building, this role cultivates partnerships with local schools, libraries, nonprofits, civic groups, and other community organizations to bring Smart Campus programs — such as Esports, Digital Signage, and weekend or summer camps—to new and diverse audiences.
Whether coordinating tentpole events, designing outreach initiatives for families and K–12 students, or promoting Smart Campus offerings through off-campus tabling and community-facing social media, the Coordinator ensures that the University’s innovation and resources are accessible, welcoming, and impactful.
This position thrives on curiosity and initiative, ideal for someone excited to identify new opportunities for collaboration, build authentic relationships, and showcase the campus as a hub for learning, creativity, and connection.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The individual should have excellent communication, organization, and time management skills with the ability to follow department procedures/policies and to work independently. It is expected that the Community Coordinator will maintain a regular work schedule.
