ABOUT THE ROLE

The Patent Support Specialist performs specialized work related to the patent prosecution support for clients to whom assigned. Provides organizational and substantive support for assigned clients. Responsibilities include providing client support for portfolio management, Information Disclosure Statement preparation, reference checks, filings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and tracking deadlines. Responsible for monitoring and expediting workflow for assigned clients. Ensures client services and satisfaction are attained in all areas of position.

Client Service

  • Consistently promote and model the Firm's Client Service Principles in teamwork, work product, and personal interaction.

  • Ensure exemplary client service to all internal and external clients; proactively promote client service throughout department and among teams; respond to peer requests with recognition that request serves a client or Firm need.

Workflow Management and Quality Control

  • Scrupulously review dockets and correspondence to ensure highest accuracy; routinely apply techniques and procedures to manage details, often working under critical deadlines.

  • Actively prioritize work with regards to Information Disclosure Statements and reference check deadlines.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed information in data management software and series charts, where applicable. Expertise in data management software.

  • Utilizing knowledge of the patent practice and adhering to USPTO procedures and firm policies and protocols, timely create accurate and comprehensive USPTO submissions, including Information Disclosure Statements. May also be responsible for ensuring compliance with reporting requirements for prior art in international cases.

Professional Development

  • Remain current in industry trends in patent prosecution; proactively expand knowledge of procedures, laws, and nuances related to docketing.

  • Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.

Confidentiality

  • Ensure compliance with the Firm’s Confidentiality Policy, including safeguarding confidential and personal information, and reporting any suspected breach appropriately and immediately.

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum of one year of patent experience preferred.

  • Minimum of one year of IDS preparation and filing preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively and to prioritize under pressure; ability to meet deadlines under sometimes stressful conditions.

  • Ability to prepare accurate, highly detailed work; excellent proofreading skills.

  • Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive, detailed data.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications. The application deadline is October 2025.

New York, San Francisco, Palo Alto salary range: $80k to $100k

Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, Washington, D.C. salary range: $76k to $95k

Denver salary range: $71k to $89k
