Reporting to Altarum’s Chief Executive Officer, we have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to be responsible for leading Altarum in the formulation and execution of its financial strategy. The CFO will play a hands-on role in managing and overseeing finance and accounting functions directly. The CFO also plays a key role supporting operational and financial goals, helping the business scale, and identifying and capturing revenue growth and investment opportunities. Additionally, the CFO may be asked to oversee other functions as part of their responsibilities.


The CFO fosters, promotes, and develops leadership behaviors and performance that creates a collaborative, accountable culture where commitments to customers of the CFO and their reports are consistently met or exceeded.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead managers of departments and indirectly, their employees
  • Plan, develop, implement, and direct the organization’s business systems and fiscal function to ensure that the organization meets all financial needs and remains compliant.
  • Analyze and make recommendations on the impact of growth initiatives and new strategies, as well as regularly track regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that the organization meets its financial objectives by developing and implementing with the leadership team new initiatives for growing revenue and margin.
  • Communicate effectively and establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board of Directors as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
  • Ensure the company has rigorous and disciplined forecasting and reporting processes that are timely and accurate.
  • Provide strategic input and leadership on decisions affecting the organization; function as a strategic advisor and consultant offering expert advice on contracts, negotiations, and/or other business activity Altarum is considering.
  • Further develop strong banking relationships and grow strategic financial partnerships.
  • Establish a highly skilled, customer-oriented finance and accounting staff.
  • Effectively lead and manage the facilities function, including leasing and building management, while maintaining flexibility to oversee other administrative functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; graduate degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of finance experience, with at least 5 years of recent executive-level finance experience and at least five years of recent federal government contractor experience.
  • Must have recent, strong experience with the use and functionality of Deltek Costpoint ERP system.
  • CPA required.

Logistical Requirements

  • At this time, we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.
  • Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
  • If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Novi, or Portland this role will be hybrid (in office on Wednesdays - collaboration days).
  • Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.
  • Employees working remotely must have a dedicated, ergonomically appropriate workspace free from distractions with a mobile device that allows for productive and efficient conduct of business.
