We are currently searching for a Director of Financial Analysis and Reporting to join our Finance team in Pittsburgh, PA. The Director of Financial Analysis and Reporting will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for driving strategic financial insights and reporting to support executive decision-making, with a focus on profitability and growth. This role involves presenting key economic insights to leadership, overseeing the firm financial reporting and profitability models and analysis, preparing and evaluating lateral proformas in collaboration with the recruiting department and conducting investment analysis in partnership with the IT department. Additionally, the Director will analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities, collaborate with senior management on partner compensation structures, oversee budget preparation, and lead the Financial Reporting and Analysis team to ensure efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive financial reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making, focusing on profitability and growth strategies.
  • Analyze financial and statistical data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare and evaluate lateral proformas in collaboration with the recruiting department, utilizing benchmarking tools to assess potential profitability and strategic fit.
  • Work closely with the IT department on projects, including calculating returns on investment and assessing the financial viability of new initiatives.
  • Present law firm economics and financial insights to leadership on an as-needed basis, ensuring clarity and strategic relevance.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and refine partner compensation structures that align with the firm’s strategic goals.
  • Lead the preparation and maintenance of budgets at the firm-wide, office, and section levels, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Supervise and mentor the Financial Reporting and Analysis team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the smooth execution of monthly reporting and special projects, driving efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Eight (8) or more years of professional accounting and financial experience, preferably within a professional services or law firm environment.
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex financial scenarios without standardization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while driving individual accountability.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under competing deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to diverse audiences, including senior management.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, including knowledge of probability and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with advanced skills in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and quality in financial reporting..
