SUMMARY: The Sr. Manager of Accounting Governance and Controls will drive the governance and controls programs for the PtP (Procure to Pay), RtR (Record to Report), and OtC (Order to Cash) functions as the subject matter expert for IFRS, technical accounting, internal controls and policies and procedures matters. This position is also responsible for auditing and ensuring quality control in accounting processes and procedures and will interact and collaborate with local and global Finance teams as well as with other departments to ensure accounting compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls. The Sr. Manager of Accounting Governance and Controls will support company-wide projects by ensuring DPDHL Accounting Policy and IFRS accounting standards are met and is responsible for driving ICS activities related to the Finance organization. The ideal candidate will be able to independently understand and manage complexities and interdependencies with the ability to identify, describe, and communicate these in a succinct way. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Interact and collaborate with local and global Finance teams as well as with other departments to ensure accounting compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls. Design, develop, and implement local accounting governance frameworks and reports, in alignment with global standards and requirements. Partner and collaborate with the internal controls team to ensure compliance of processes and procedures related to the accounting department, including the development and update of policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal controls. Drive accounting governance related matters for the entity, ensuring consistent application of accounting principles across the organization. Interpret and operationalize corporate accounting guidelines; ensure and document compliance with noted requirements. Conduct in-depth research on new and evolving accounting standards, assessing their implications and impact on the company financial statements. Support the local finance team in interactions with global or corporate accounting, ensuring effective communication, coordination and execution of initiatives. Drive and support PMO activities around systems, processes, procedures roll-outs or updates. Assess and respond queries from local and global teams that are related to its scope of work. Perform quality controls and auditing of finance department processes and procedures including entry level validation to ensure compliance with guidelines. Conduct monthly reviews of financial statements (e.g. balance sheet and cashflow statements); collaborate and coordinate with the local finance teams to enhance financial reporting, data quality, and accuracy. Design, drive, and support process improvement and optimization projects in areas where accounting processes and procedures need to be further developed and improved. Provide guidance and/or training to the Finance team and/or relevant stakeholders on IFRS and overall accounting governance related topics. Advise on new or changed accounting principles and practices that impact compliance. Identify potential financial risks, design and drive mitigation measures. Follow up on open finance-related internal audit findings and provide support to other finance teams in audit-related topics. Liaise with external auditors and/or consultants. Regularly review and maintain approval matrices for internal workflow systems, ensuring alignment between matrices, systems, and company policies. Drive and support digitalization initiatives around audit, process compliance and efficiency. Participate in ad-hoc financial projects, initiatives and in cross-functional teams related to its scope of work. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in accounting, finance, business or related field. Professional accounting certification (CPA, CA, CMA, CGMA or equivalent). 7+ years of finance experience such as accounting, corporate finance, or internal/external audit. External audit experience 3+ years of finance leadership experience. REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS: Strong understanding of IFRS and its application to businesses. Excellent analytical skills and capacity for conceptual thinking, able to think and act with a cross-organizational and cross-process approach. Demonstrated experience in Business Process Optimization or in ERP transformation. Strong knowledge and understanding of finance processes, e.g. in RTR, OTC, PTP, cost accounting & master data. Demonstrated experience in finance process management, modelling, and optimization. Strong organization and project management skills. Strong willingness to approach projects with a can-do attitude and create standards, where no exist. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Superior English skills, German would be beneficial. High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information. Comfortable in a fast-moving, fluid, international environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical demands are mostly consistent with a professional office setting. Regular sitting at workstation for 25 – 75% of the work shift. Nominal travel (<10%) may be required.
