Post Doctoral Associate
Med-Structural Biology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25002722)

Terms of Contract/Appointment: This is a ­­­­one-year term, renewable, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Postdoctoral Associate

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform scientific research given by the PI.
  • Perform high-quality, engaging, interactive, self-motivated research projects
  • Maintain a documented research outcome by timely/organized reporting of the results to the PI
  • Perform routine laboratory work, including organization, maintenance, documentation, writing, reporting, and presenting
  • Weekly presentation of research progress
  • Prepare research results outcomes at a high-quality level for grant and funding for scholarly research activities and applications
  • Develop and conduct research, and publish original research
  • Write research manuscripts
  • Participate in conferences and professional networking opportunities
  • Provide training and mentoring to students and junior group members
  • Participate actively as a member of the university community on administrative committees, search committees, in university governance activities, and student advising
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the PI

Minimum Qualifications for the Position:

  • PHD degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field
  • 3 years or more relevant work experience within the field of structural biology, protein biochemistry and biophysics, recombinant protein production and purification, and protein biophysics
  • Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Structural biology methods, including protein crystallography and Cryo-EM
  • Protein characterization
  • Advanced protein biophysics methods
