Position Summary

This is a FULL-TIME, onsite position located in Bethesda, MD.

National Capitol Contracting is seeking a dependable and professional Administrative Assistant to join a team of professionals at the NIH, the nation’s premier scientific and medical research centers. In this role, you will support day-to-day front desk operations and assist the Events Management team at a federal government facility. This role is part of a larger contract supporting government operations and requires excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Serve as the first point of contact at the front desk: answer incoming calls, route inquiries, and greet and assist visitors in accordance with facility protocols
  • Provide accurate directions and general information to building visitors and personnel
  • Receive, log, sign for, and organize incoming packages and deliveries; notify building occupants of package arrival
  • Support the Events Management team by assisting with room reservation scheduling using internal systems
  • Coordinate with event vendors and provide administrative assistance for event logistics
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area; ensure compliance with building access policies
  • Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and ordering office/event supplies

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance (must be able to pass a criminal background check and credit check).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in an administrative, receptionist, or customer-facing role 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Professional demeanor, punctuality, and a strong sense of discretion
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required background investigation and Public Trust Clearence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting a federal contract or working in a government environment
  • Familiarity with event coordination or customer service in a professional setting

Special Position Requirements:

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:30AM-1:30PM OR 10AM-6PM

Environment/Physical Demands: Occasional lifting of light packages, sitting for prolonged periods of time. Dress code and conduct must reflect a professional work environment.
