Job Summary

Responsible for assisting the manufacturing area in improving plant efficiencies, generating cost-saving projects and overseeing engineering projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Understand manufacturing processes (preferably thermoforming, extrusion and/or injection molding in order to aid the various departments in improved operating efficiencies
• Generate cost-saving ideas and projects.
• Function as team leader and/or team member for various projects.
• Maintain internal customer satisfaction with all responsibilities (part numbers, budgets/standards, time studies, layouts, work instructions, etc.)
• Train and develop department technicians and trainees
• Occasionally function as backup production supervisor/relief supervisor.

 Required Skills/Abilities

• Self-motivated and technically minded 
• Willingness to work directly with equipment as a “hands-on” engineer. 
• Knowledge of bill of materials, routing and product costing preferred.  
• Understanding of mold design in the plastics environment.    
• Ability to work with and influence at all levels.   
• Ability to set and meet priorities, establish work plans and objectives, maintain adequate controls, provide management feedback and perform duties under only general supervision.  
• Must understand the scope of business operations.    
• Must be team-oriented

 Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field. Recent grads considered. 
• Technical knowledge of plastics processing techniques (injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming) is preferred but not required.
