Leidos’ Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking a System Engineering Analyst to join our team…with the ability and experience to work missile defense projects within the BMD Simulations and Analysis Portfolio. In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for performing research, developing M&S, algorithms, performance metrics, evaluating algorithms and system performance. Coordinating with associate contractors developing the applications, reporting status at meetings, and working closely with the development and test and integration teams. As well, collaborate with MDA to ensure requirements and design considerations are managed and provide analysis feedback to the software development team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, be a strong team player, and have the ability to establish solid working relationships with peers and technical staff members within the program.

Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
Evaluates existing and emerging technologies to enable system/software architecture alternatives to address functional/non-functional product needs to include cost, schedule, risk, and supportability for enterprise applications.
Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and extensibility
Requires ability to communicate with leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of software interface interactions.
Oversee progress of software development team to ensure consistency with agreed upon system/software architecture
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 12-15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10-13 years of prior relevant experience
Experience with C++ software development
Knowledge and experience with software architectures and complex systems to support product functional / non-function requirements
Data analysis experience using Python, Jupyter Notebooks or similar technology
Experience with GitLab/Git for software configuration management
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create and deliver presentations
Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in Missile Defense
Must be a US citizen, possess and able to maintain an active DoD secret clearance
Full time onsite support
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Agile methodologies, such as the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and application of the Agile methodologies within a technical/engineering environment
MDS M&S Interface experience (knowledge of the phenomenology transferred to MDS elements)
Technical depth of knowledge of either RF or EO/IR sensors
Able to understand 6-DOF trajectory analysis
Real-Time understanding (blocking calls and semaphore impacts)
Experience with Multi-core and multi-threaded programming
TCP/IP and Unicast understanding
Core Truth Model experience is a Plus
