POSITION SUMMARY

The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and tracking security events and computer incidents across the Petmate enterprise. The selected candidate will have a strong analytical capability, the ability to work individually and as part of a team, and the desire to gain expertise in information security. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review / Research / Update existing IT Security Policies.
  • Develop new IT security policies as needed to align with evolving security compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Windows / Infrastructure MSP/MSSP and Linux / Infrastructure MSP to review and investigate attacks against infrastructure, networking, applications, etc. and research RCA and relevant solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze log data, network traffic and/or alerts generated by a variety of security technologies in real-time; escalate and explain validated security incidents to customers.
  • Perform investigations and respond to threats using industry leading EDR & SIEM tools.
  • Administration of Email Security Software.
  • Write up security incident reports detailing the threat, its characteristics, and possible remediation activities.
  • Research new threats and ensure appropriate detection capabilities are in place to identify and respond to these threats.
  • Routinely review security incidents and other customer deliverables for adherence to the established procedures and guidelines. Document, rectify, and provide feedback to other analysts as necessary.
  • Articulate security issues to IT Management, both verbally and written.
  • Work with your team through difficult or complex issues.
  • Understanding of current vulnerabilities, attacks and countermeasures.
  • Developing knowledge of security technologies, cyber-attacks and vulnerabilities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Manage and track client issues and requests.
  • Support other teams as needed.
  • Coordinate annual compliance activities: DR testing, Pen testing, Table-Top exercise, etc.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

Requirements:

  • Ability to work individually and part of a team with little supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A high level of personal integrity with the ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of incident data flow and response, content, and remediation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of incident response processes, cyber threats, vulnerabilities and network exploits.
  • Working knowledge of security monitoring, security event and incident management systems, Internet content filtering/reporting, and malware prevention.
  • Working knowledge of anti-virus, firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, and web security technologies.
  • Classroom experience or exposure to incident response or malware analysis.
  • Must be proficient in the use of some of the following (the more the better): In addition to technologies listed in the upper sections, proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Assurance/Security or related, offsetting experience required.
  • Two years of IT experience.
  • Relevant internship experience preferred.
  • MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, ISC, CAP, Associate of (ISC)²/CISSP, CISM, CompTIA, or GIAC certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a lab or operational environment, with customer-facing responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an information/cyber security role – ideally focused on intrusion detection/security monitoring and analysis.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience understanding of the cyber security threat landscape, including detailed technical knowledge about the most prevalent vulnerabilities, threats, attack methods, and infection vectors.
  • Minimum of 1- year experience in computer networking, including a detailed understanding of TCP/IP and other core Internet protocols.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience technical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to be dynamic and adapt in order to solve complex technical issues with customers and partners.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. (If associate’s degree, must have minimum 2 years work experience)
  • Experience with the following applications preferred:
    • SentinelOne
    • Mimecast
    • Infosec IQ
    • PILLR
    • Huntress
  • Experience demonstrating the understanding of security foundations for the architecture or administration of:
    • Data (in-motion, at-rest, in-use)
    • Networks (LAN, WAN, MPLS, VPN, etc.)
    • Servers (Physical, Virtual, Hosts, etc.)
    • Workstations & RDS
  • Operating Systems (Windows, LINU).   


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This position operates in a combination of office and industrial settings. The office environment is typically quiet, climate-controlled, and pet-friendly, offering a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere. Standard computers and communication equipment are used regularly. In contrast, the industrial areas may involve exposure to loud machinery, requiring the use of ear and eye protection. These environments can be fast-paced and may involve proximity to manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment that can result in a dusty or dirty workspace. Safety is a top priority, and all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.
