Position Summary:
The Housing Coordinator's main duties include facilities management, assisting with conduct, and assisting with operations and residence life tasks.
Reporting directly to the Director of Housing & Community Standards and being para-supervised by the Assistant Director, the Housing Coordinator serves as a senior professional staff member responsible for the day-to-day functions of coordinating and directing matters related to the housing, facilities, and conduct process for all residence halls, apartments, and meal plans. This position is on the crisis response team and assumes a rotation of the on-call schedule. They develop and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders on campus. This position helps to manage the student conduct process, including adjudication. This position supervises all tasks and projects related to facilities, maintenance, and keys, as it pertains to Housing. They perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervision:
This position directly supervises one student office employee and co-supervises five to seven graduate assistants, student office employees, and 28-35 Resident Assistants.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serves, with the Director and Assistant Director, as the central management team in developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental goals, policies, organization, and programs.
- Represents the department on university committees and on special projects as appointed.
- Works on the eRezLife housing software system.
- Serves on the duty rotation schedule with the graduate residence hall directors.
- Works with students, constituents, and other members of the university community to determine housing needs.
- Assists with operations, as needed, such as billing, assignments, occupancy needs, etc.
- Plans and coordinates all aspects of the department's needs as it relates to facilities management.
- Works directly with the maintenance department in support of facilities management, including: Submitting work orders, meeting with maintenance on a weekly basis, organizing custodial needs, overseeing keys, etc.
- Plans and coordinates aspects of student conduct within housing.
- Adjudicates conduct cases, assigns sanctions, meets with students, ensures students know and understand policies, and records and keeps records related to community standards.
- Works with the Title IX Coordinator on Clery management and additional tasks.
- Works with University Police, the campus counselor, and administrators often as it pertains to risk management and crisis situations.
- Some duties will require the Housing Coordinator to work at night and on the weekends, due to events, activities, emergencies, duty, etc.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and supervising housing/dining review processes and appeals.
- Serves as a member of the departmental recruitment team; attends orientation programs and university recruitment events as directed.
- Oversees meal plans in the department for all students.
- Participates in Housing & Community Standards weekly meetings, planning meetings, departmental policy meetings, and more.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Knowledge of basic housing administration and use of technology, including Banner, database management, and other software applications.
• The Housing Coordinator must be proficient in working with eRezLife or willing to learn it.
• Should have experience in student conduct procedures and how to work effectively adjudicate cases.
• Experience working with other Housing software.
• Knowledge of student development, advising, human relations, information systems and processing, conflict
resolution, management, marketing, budgeting, strategic planning, etc.
• An understanding of basic university policies and procedures.
• Insight and commitment to the objectives of higher education and university housing, along with student conduct, are important.
• Experience working with facility departments and addressing maintenance concerns.
• Ability to communicate with and analyze the performance of a diverse group of residents and employees.
• Capability to effectively select, train, supervise, and evaluate personnel.
• Competent in assessing and reacting in emergency situations. The Housing Coordinator must have experience of crisis management.
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
• Skills related to interpreting and refining policies and procedures.
• Capacity to work in a high stress/fast-paced environment.
• Possess solid analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.
• Must follow-through timely and effectively on all assignments.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize work assignments, delegate, and achieve quality outcomes.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general office management software.

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

• Apartment within one of the residence halls; will not have to directly manage this residence
hall or staff.
• The Housing Coordinator is not required to reside on campus but must live within 10 minutes or
stay on campus temporarily, due to the on-call rotation.
• The pay is not increased if you do not wish to reside on campus full-time.
• 15 meals/week in the dining hall
Minimum Qualifications: • An earned Bachelor's degree with prior experience in housing or residence life.
• Master's degree preferred in college student personnel, higher education, management, business, public administration, or related field of study.
• At least one year of work experience in a college/university housing and residence life program.
• Experience supervising student staff.
