Marketing Director

Summary/Objective

The Marketing Director plays a vital leadership role in executing strategic marketing initiatives for the Bank. Reporting directly to the Chief Retail Officer, this position is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing marketing strategies that support brand awareness, customer engagement, product promotion, and community involvement. The Marketing Director will lead a small, talented team including a Digital Marketing Officer and Graphic Designer, and collaborate across departments and with the bank’s external advertising agency and other third-party vendors to ensure cohesive messaging, community impact, and measurable results. The Marketing Director will foster collaboration and alignment with the bank’s mission and values while carrying out the strategies of the bank.

Primary Functions

Strategic Marketing Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Retail Officer to develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans aligned with retail, mortgage, and commercial banking goals.
  • Identify and prioritize marketing opportunities that support customer acquisition, loyalty, and community outreach.
  • Lead the annual marketing calendar, campaign planning, and performance evaluation.

Team Leadership & Project Management:

  • Directly supervise and mentor the Digital Marketing Officer and Graphic Designer, fostering professional growth and team collaboration.
  • Manage project timelines, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of marketing campaigns, materials, and initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for marketing across internal departments, working with Regional Presidents and other Executives, external partners, and the Bank’s advertising agency.
  • Prepares (for approval) and administers marketing budget, including support of market strategies developed by each market, research, and database marketing allocations.

Brand & Community Engagement:

  • Uphold and enhance the Bank’s brand identity across all channels, ensuring consistency and community relevance.
  • Coordinate support for local sponsorships, events, Community Partners, and partnerships that reinforce the Bank’s presence in the community.
  • Oversee internal communications that promote brand culture and employee engagement.
  • Develops, implements, and administers (including measurement and reporting) customer service Improvement programs, mystery shopping, and other tactical programs and projects designed to improve customer satisfaction.

Content & Campaign Development:

  • Guide the development of original, engaging content for digital platforms, print materials, social media, and in-branch communications.
  • Manage messaging for advertising, financial literacy, customer education, and promotional efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with the advertising agency on creative development, media strategy, and campaign execution.
  • Monitor industry trends and local insights to inform messaging and positioning strategies.

Analytics & Reporting:

  • Track, analyze, and report on key marketing metrics including campaign performance, customer engagement, and return on investment.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize strategies and inform future marketing initiatives.
  • Willingly participates in all assigned duties and responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is a largely sedentary role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer and phone; however, occasional bending, stooping, and stretching may be required as well as the ability to lift up to 10 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position. Travel to branches periodically, travel to conferences and colloquiums as needed for educational and training opportunities.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  2. 5–7 years of progressive marketing experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  3. Experience in the banking or financial services industry strongly preferred.
  4. Demonstrated success in managing teams, marketing projects, and creative processes.
  5. Strong understanding of digital marketing, brand development, and customer engagement.
  6. Experience collaborating with advertising or creative agencies.
  7. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  8. An initiative-taking, creative mindset with a strong commitment to customer-first marketing.
  9. Experience with automated marketing customer information file systems.
  10. Experience with marketing research.
