The Production Worker is responsible for performing methods of NDT. Emphasis is placed on quality of surface and sub surface defects. New 2-2-3 schedule with 12 hours shifts.

Requirements:

Position Summary:

Maintain Casting Production Priorities and assist in organizational and leadership tasks to ensure that production is maintained the highest level of safety, quality and productivity.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid fork truck and / or crane license, will train on the job
  • 3-5 years of experience in Aluminum Casting Environment


Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Team player, good listening skills verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with multiple levels of people effectively, in group and individual settings
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Basic math and business writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and manage projects to successful completion
  • Ability to learn new programs, activities and tasks
  • Good oral/written communications and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, planning and documentation skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate casting equipment in a safe manner at all times
  • Monitor operators and equipment in your area of responsibility for adverse safety conditions and advise supervision of these conditions
  • Set-up casters for high productivity levels within your area of responsibility to include Trim Dies
  • Perform all duties that a molder performs, relieve molders for breaks if needed
  • Change and prep fill tubes
  • Change molds
  • Train Molders on safety and operation
  • Troubleshoot and report problems
  • Regularly scheduled follow up training and competency evaluation will take place annually and be included with an employee's evaluation summary and maintained by HR in the employee records.
  • Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the supervisor
  • When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job
  • Other duties as assigned

Decisions Making Scope/Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Maintain and enforce a safe working environment within the cell.
  • Have proficient knowledge and understanding to be able to perform all of the operations in the work area you are leading.
  • Conduct attendance roll-call; inform Group Leader of team member absences.
  • Lead start of shift meeting per agenda.
  • Suggest re-assignment and reallocate team member resources to achieve daily production requirements.
  • Audit all documentation is available and is accurate for current revision levels.
  • Ensure all start of shift and periodic process checks and documentation are completed and accurate
  • Assist team members to resolve production issues as they arise.
  • Assist team members with product labeling and transacting.
  • Complete Quality audits during the shift as required.
  • Relieve and fill in for operators within the cell as needed.
  • Post and verify performance data on hourly boards.
  • With assistance of Group Leader, develop, train, and audit Standardized Work.
  • Coordinate achievement of training goals in cell. Train operators, track training progress. Recertify operators periodically.
  • Follow escalation protocols appropriately including company policy infractions.
  • Understanding company policies and procedures to assist in spreading understanding at a peer level
  • Redirecting and counselling employees when they do not follow company policies and procedures.
  • Manage cell processes to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Ensure all work areas are organized and clean at the beginning, throughout, and at the end of the shift.
  • Work with all departments to improve and maintain and improve process and equipment efficiencies.
  • Develop, communicate potential improvements, understand, train and continuously monitor and correct to the documented standard work for the process.
  • Develop, Train and Perform TPM activities on equipment and facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Lead and direct a small team of molders
  • Responsible for leading, coordinating, and monitoring the work of others who perform the same type of work as this job. Lead responsibilities typically include training, checking the work of others and ensuring supplies and materials are available.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Works in a fast-paced environment under minimum supervision. Routine responsibilities and duties involve the use of various procedures and the application of clearly prescribed standards of practice, requiring the use of good judgment. Must work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The job works in conditions with frequent exposure to loud noise, heavy lifting, heavy overhead lifting, heavy machinery and sharp tools.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Standing 70% -80% of the time; walking
  • Bending, crouching, twisting and reaching required
  • The person in this environment with multiple priorities. There is no travel required to fulfill this position.
