The Assistant Director, Digital Communication, is responsible for executing on the digital strategy for the University Advancement (UA) website, social media channels and the VU Events Mobile App, and acts as the liaison for University Advancement on video content. This position will work closely with University Communication and Marketing (UCM) to ensure alignment of the Villanova brand in all UA digital communications. The Assistant Director will be responsible for the maintenance of the University Advancement website, working collaboratively and proactively to create, coordinate and update content so the UA website is an impactful and efficient tool that drives fundraising and engages alumni. This position will also manage the strategy for the alumni social media accounts, which includes maintaining the content calendar and creating dynamic posts that drive alumni and donor engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the University Advancement website, working collaboratively and proactively to create, coordinate and update content so that the web is an impactful and efficient tool that drives gifts and engages alumni.
  • Act as the UAC team’s lead on web accessibility and SEO and educate UA on best practices.
  • Manage the strategy for the alumni social media accounts, which includes maintaining the content calendar for UA’s social media channels and creating dynamic posts in alignment with the Villanova brand that drives alumni and donor engagement. Lead the UA social media working group and oversee social media ad campaigns.
  • Act as the liaison between University Advancement and UCM to ensure all video content and visuals strongly represent the Villanova brand and achieve the University’s fundraising and alumni engagement goals.
  • Track key metrics for the UA website and social media channels, analyzing data to optimize strategies, identify trends and generate reports on the performance of the UA website and social media channels.
  • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The individual must have 5+ years of relevant communications experience with 2+ years experience in website and social media management, including web accessibility and SEO, within an academic, non-profit or business environment.
  • This individual must be a skilled project manager and fluent in the creation and placement of digital content.
  • Must be highly proficient in all standard computer digital applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be a flexible self-starter and team player who enjoys collaboration with a wide variety of constituencies.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving and decision-making and organizational and planning skills with the ability to build and maintain excellent internal and external relationships.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple projects, priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion.
