Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our high-performing finance and accounting team. In this key role, you will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, preparing accurate financial statements, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. You will lead tasks such as general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes, playing a vital role in supporting accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency. This position reports directly to the Financial Controller and collaborates cross-functionally with other departments to support budgeting, audit readiness, and process improvements.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post adjusting journal entries, and support the month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain and update fixed asset schedules, including depreciation and amortization calculations
  • Reconcile and monitor assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies
  • Conduct analytical reviews and variance analysis of the general ledger, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Partner with project managers to assess and update project cost estimates, job costing, and estimates to complete (ETC)
  • Assist in the preparation, development, and tracking of annual budgets and forecasting models
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and provide financial data to support organizational decision-making
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including automation opportunities and enhancements to financial workflows
  • Gain working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) to ensure compliance
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP), for data analysis and reporting
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and complete other duties as assigned by leadership


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or project-based environment or in Public Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standard accounting practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP) and financial reporting tools
  • Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with INFOR ERP or similar manufacturing/job costing systems is a plus
  • Background in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or job shop accounting in an industrial or production setting
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills to support both finance and operations teams
