BE THE CEO OF YOUR JOB
As the Network Specialist III, you are responsible for providing advanced-level support and expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network infrastructure. You will be part of a team that handles escalated network-related issues, troubleshoots complex problems, and ensures the efficient operation of the organization's network systems. Your role will involve collaborating with other network engineers, network administrators, and IT teams to deliver high-quality network solutions that meet business requirements.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advanced level position, possessing advanced professional knowledge and expertise in their function.
- Receives work in the form of objectives and strategically determines how to use resources to meet deadlines and goals.
- Work is in depth in scope and complexity, covering multiple disciplines within their specific function.
- Thoroughly understands interdependencies of role and provides guidance to entry level roles.
- Design and implement complex network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other network devices.
- Provide advanced-level support for network-related incidents, problems, and change requests, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues by analyzing network traffic, logs, and device configurations to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Provide expert level knowledge and support of all physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers (ex. O365, Exchange, or on-premises).
- Collaborates with vendor contacts to resolve and document complex technical problems.
- Collaborate with other network engineers, network administrators, and cross-functional IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network systems with other infrastructure components, such as servers, storage, and security systems.
- Recommend policies to Network Specialist Manager.
- Perform network capacity planning and performance monitoring to proactively identify bottlenecks, optimize network performance, and ensure scalability.
- Maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPN technologies, to protect the organization's network infrastructure and data.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Keep up to date with emerging network technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously enhance network infrastructure and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of network equipment, tools, and software to meet business requirements and improve network performance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior network engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster professional growth within the team.
- Ability to travel, up to 20% of the time.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education
- Minimum three years related experience with an associate degree or certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience and/or Training
- Proven experience as a Network Specialist II or III or equivalent role, with a strong understanding of network protocols, topologies, and architectures.
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN technologies.
- Proficiency in network routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol).
- Hands-on experience with network security technologies, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and AAA protocols.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and resolve complex network problems efficiently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks and experience in adhering to change management processes.
Licenses/Certificates
Technology/Equipment
- Familiarity with network diagnostic tools, such as packet analyzers, network performance monitoring tools, and network simulation/emulation tools.
- Use of RMM tools like Dameware, Go To Assist, and Splash top. (Or equivalent tools)
- Understanding of POS systems like Micros, Square, Jonas, and Toast.
- Understanding of Meraki setup on firewalls, switches, and access points.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and/or Training
- 4+ years of experience
- Strong understanding of network virtualization technologies (e.g., VLAN, VRF, VXLAN) and experience with virtualized network environments (e.g., VMware NSX, Cisco ACI) is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Extensive experience in network troubleshooting methodologies and tools, with a track record of successfully resolving complex network issues within defined SLAs.
- Strong knowledge of network disaster recovery planning and implementation, including backup and restore procedures.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams to plan and execute network infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
- Experience in implementing network security best practices and compliance frameworks.
Licenses/Certificates
- Driver's license and Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent certifications are preferred.
Technology/Equipment
- In-depth knowledge of network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, SNMP) to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Nutanix, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM.
- Understanding of virtual networking concepts, virtual switches, and network virtualization.
- Great understanding of Meraki setup on firewalls, switches, and access points a plus
