Overview

  • Provide clinical management of patients in Hematology & Medical Oncology; 
  • Assure a coordinated, effective, high quality, and efficient care process;  
  • Use an interdisciplinary team approach to the care of patients; 
  • Work collaboratively with clinic management on process improvement projects; 
  • Provide education to colleagues, staff and students, as needed. 

 

The Cellular Therapy APP is part of the Center for Hematologic Malignancies (CHM) outpatient clinic. This clinic provides care for cellular therapies such as chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy, acute and long-term care to patients who have undergone an autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT). 

 

This APP sees up to 12 patients per day, may monitor cell infusions, provide patient education for the cellular therapy the patient is being considered for.

 

The APP  provides care in conjunction with a team comprised of physicians, advanced practice professionals (APPs), RN coordinators, and other allied health professionals.  APPs may practice both independently or in a shared-care model with physicians as determined by the needs of the team.

 

Additionally, this APP may intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues. They may do procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, LPs, and IT chemotherapy pushes.

 

 



Responsibilities

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Current and Active State of Oregon Registered Nurse license
  • Current and active Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon
  • State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges
  • DEA certificate
  • National Board certification

Physician Assistant:

  • Current and active Physician Assistant license for State of Oregon
  • DEA certificate
  • National Board Certification


Qualifications



  • 2+ years of APP experience in Hematology/Oncology
  • Experience/Exposure with clinical trials, research and experimental therapeutics
  • Experience with EPIC and Beacon
  • Membership in a professional organization.
